Madelynn Dickinson (Maddie) is a Nurse Practitioner at the North English Family Medical Clinic, part of Compass Memorial Healthcare (CMH). Maddie, her husband Jake, and their four children live just outside of Wellman on an acreage. As a local healthcare provider, Maddie brings a wealth of experience in primary care, urgent care, pediatrics, postpartum care, and NICU, making her a trusted provider for individuals and families in the Wellman, Iowa area.
Due to unexpected variables outside of Compass Memorial Healthcare’s control, Maddie will be at the North English Family Medical Clinic for the year ahead and will take her permanent post at the Family Medical Clinic of Wellman (FMCW) once the year is complete. During this time, Stephanie will be the provider at FMCW.
Maddie always knew she wanted to be a nurse. Growing up with a medically complex brother, her experienced firsthand the impact healthcare providers can have on others. Then, at the age of 13, Maddie was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, which fully submerged her in the medical world and strengthened her passion for patient advocacy. This personal experience inspires her commitment to listening, educating, and caring for her patients.
Originally from Aurora, Illinois, Maddie moved throughout the state during her childhood and eventually settled in Mount Pleasant, Iowa during her high school years. She started her education at Kirkwood Community College before transferring to Mount Mercy University. Maddie continued her education through graduate school, earning her doctorate as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP).
While pursuing her education and gaining hands-on experience in healthcare, Maddie worked at a group home supporting adults with developmental disabilities and brain injuries. During this time, she was also growing her family and welcomed her three sons.
After graduating, Maddie worked as a Registered Nurse (RN) at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids for three years, providing specialized care in the NICU, postpartum, and pediatric units. Maddie welcomed her fourth child, a daughter, during this period. She later provided urgent care and primary care services for the past three years in Washington, Iowa.
Maddie’s diverse clinical background and dedication to patient-centered care led her to CMH, bringing high-quality healthcare close to home for individuals in the communities we serve.
In Maddie’s free time, she assists at her children’s sporting events and volunteers at Mid-Prairie Elementary School. CMH believes in supporting the communities we serve and encourages team members to be actively involved. Maddie is excited to become even more involved and deeply ingrained in the community.
“There is a need for more providers who listen, care, and take the time our patients need and deserve. I will ensure patients and their families will be heard."
